    Sports Broadcaster

In addition to the fun stuff elsewhere on this site, I am a long-time sports broadcaster with over twenty years of play-by-play experience. I am currently the voice of Alma College football and men's basketball on WQBX-FM and almascots.com, along with coverage of Alma Panther football and basketball along with other local teams. I have called nineteen MHSAA State Championship Games in football and basketball for WQBX and the MHSAA Radio Network, done freelance play-by-play for Grand Valley State University (NCAA D-II), and have received seven Broadcast Excellence Awards for Play-by-Play Sports from the Michigan Association of Broadcasters.

I also write occasional freelance sports stories for the Morning Sun newspaper, including weeklong coverage of the 2012 Masters Golf Tournament. Growing up, I wrote my own bi-weekly sports newspaper and received media credentials for the PGA Tour Buick Open at age 11. This led to an appearance on Late Night with David Letterman (where I unfortunately picked the Bills to win that weekend's Super Bowl), along with a two-year stint as "Mid-Michigan's Youngest Sports Guru" on WNEM-TV5 and appearances on the University of Michigan Football pregame "Tailgate Party" on WTKA.

I graduated summa cum laude from Williams College in Massachusetts and number one in my class from Notre Dame Law School. In "real life," I operate a general practice law office in Alma, Michigan. I also have written a satirical Fairy Tale book, "Not Your Mother's Goose," available here, and recently wrapped up hosting the Not Your Mother's Goose Podcast after 50 episodes. You can find additional info about that fun stuff on my main site.
